This amazing product is every card ever printed in Beta (plus some basic lands) for a total of 363 cards from the very beginnings of Magic history! With a special gold trimmed version of the classic card back and old-school square corners this complete, opened product is on display in our main case. Whether you are looking to own a version of the Power Nine, or flexing one of the most ridiculous Cubes in history, you will not be disappointed with the condition of these cards. Come in and take a look to ask about pricing.
Standard: Preconstructed, 60-card decks utilizing only the last 3 years worth of standard cards. You may have up to 4 copies of a given card in your deck (you may have unlimited basic lands) and a 15-card sideboard of cards that can be utilized in between matches. Most formats play a best-of-three matchup and use Swiss parings to ensure that you are matched up with relatively equal opponents as the tournament progresses. Our standard events are scheduled based on interest so hop on the discord and let Tony know you are ready to rumble!
Draft: Each player is given 3 sealed play boosters of cards and opens one at random. They take one card (some formats have you select 2) and pass the rest of the pack to the person on your left. Then that person selects a card and passes it to the left, and so on until the pack is gone. Then you open the second pack, select a card, and pass it to the right. After that pack is gone, you select a card from the last pack and pass it back to the left again. Once finished, you will have a pool of 45 cards to turn into a 40 card deck (don't forget to add basic lands) for a Swiss style best-of-three tournament. These events are a great opportunity to test your skills in card selection and deck construction with everyone starting on the same playing field. Plus win or lose you get to take home all the cards you drafted! Often there is prize support in the form of extra packs awarded to the top three winners of the event.
Sealed: Each player is given 6 sealed play boosters and uses them to create a 40-card deck (plus basic lands) for a Swiss style best-of-three tournament. Usually these events focus on one release set and give players the opportunity to focus on the mechanics of that set more intensely. With the exception of a Pre-Release, these are one of the most casual of competitive formats and allow you to really build your card collection.
Pre-Release: Often considered the most fun events of the year, Pre-releases give you the opportunity to try out a brand new set of cards before they are in wide circulation. These are relaxed competitions, with a focus on learning and having fun. Pre-release packs come with 6 packs of cards like a regular sealed event, but also come with goodies like special promo cards, spindown dice, and more! These are always very well attended events so make sure you get your registration in early.
Cube: A curated collection of hundreds of cards, usually revolving around some kind of central theme, setting, or block in magic's history. The "cubemeister" uses their creativity to craft a unique experience for everyone to enjoy. These cards are separated into 15-card "packs" at random and are drafted just like a regular draft event. While the competition is fierce, these events are free to join and are focused on fun interactions and crazy combos. GenXGaming normally runs cube events on Saturdays and provides prize support for the winners of the event.
Pauper: This is a constructed, 60-card format that pulls from Magic's entire history with only one restriction: every card has to have been printed at common rarity. This highly competitive format gives room for cards that would normally never see constructed play to shine and has one of the most healthy metagames of any format. Each new set printed usually brings a few new cards into the format so it is constantly evolving and our local meta is dynamic and shifting. GenXGaming runs a $10 pauper event on Fridays with all proceeds going back to the top competitors as store credit. This is a great way to get into a competitive scene without spending a lot of money on a deck, and out players always have a few extra decks to loan out to anyone who wants to try it out.
Pre-Modern: Premodern is a fan-created Magic: The Gathering format that features cards printed from Fourth Edition (1995) through Scourge (2003)—covering the early era of Magic without modern mechanics like planeswalkers or the modern card frame. The format is non-rotating, relatively affordable, and often played in both paper and online settings, making it an accessible and enduring choice for players who appreciate the golden age of Magic design. We have events once a month on Sundays, Swiss Format $15 with all buy-ins returned to the top players as store credit.
Legacy: Legacy is a Magic: The Gathering constructed format that allows cards from almost the entire history of the game, going back to its beginning in 1993. It features a vast card pool, which leads to powerful and fast-paced gameplay, with many intricate interactions. Unlike Vintage, Legacy bans certain powerful cards (like Black Lotus and Library of Alexandria) rather than restricting them. Key characteristics of the format include cheap, efficient spells, combo decks, and deep strategic complexity. Our event are held once a month on Friday. are Swiss Format, usually 3-4 rounds with all $15 buy-ins returned to the top coopetitors as store credit.
Commander: Commander is the most popular multiplayer format in Magic: The Gathering where each player builds a 100-card singleton deck led by a legendary creature known as a commander. Unlike traditional formats, Commander emphasizes social interaction, political maneuvering, and creative deckbuilding over strict competitiveness. The format encourages casual play and storytelling, creating a welcoming environment for both new and experienced players. Its flexibility allows for diverse strategies and playstyles, making it one of the most inclusive formats—both in terms of deck design and community culture. Whether you're here for wild combos, epic battles, or just a good time with friends, Commander offers a uniquely fun and social Magic experience. Commander free play is every Friday, and some other weekend days when we do not have other scheduled events.

Challenge Accepted. The Path to the Pro Tour Starts Here.
The Star City Games Regional Championship Qualifier (RCQ) is the entry point into the highest level of competitive Magic: The Gathering play in the United States. This is a premier, structured tournament designed to test your deck-building skills, your in-game execution, and your mental fortitude over multiple rounds of Swiss play, where the top finisher earns an invitation to the next Regional Championship (RC). These Regional Championships, hosted by Star City Games (SCG) at large SCG CON events, feature significant prize pools ($100,000+) and are the final step before the prestigious Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour.
Competitive Format: RCQs are usually held in one of Magic's major constructed formats (like Pioneer, Modern, or Standard), or as a Limited event (Sealed Deck or Draft). Players must bring a complete, legal deck (with a 15-card sideboard) and submit a decklist prior to the start of play.
Structured Play: The tournament follows a series of Swiss rounds based on attendance, followed by a cut to a Top 8/4 single-elimination playoff. Expect a full day of high-level competition and intense match-ups.
Prize Support & Promos: In addition to prize payouts (often store credit or cash), RCQs offer exclusive promotional cards provided by Wizards of the Coast. Participants often receive a unique promo just for playing, while top finishers and the ultimate winner receive highly sought-after, often foil, versions of these promos.
The Invitation: The primary prize is the invitation to the Regional Championship. Winning an RCQ confirms your seat at a massive, destination-level tournament, placing you directly on the path to the Pro Tour and the Magic: The Gathering World Championship.
RCQs are where competitive players prove their mastery, validate their strategies, and chase their dreams of professional play. Bring your A-game!
